Welcome to Wynwood

Wynwood and Edgewater, divided by E Coast Ave, are a 15-minute walk apart from each other and, therefore, often treated as one neighborhood alongside the neighboring enclave known as Midtown.

The famous, jaw-dropping Wynwood Walls, which feature a mix of rotating popular artists from around the world, give Wynwood its distinct character. This “outdoor museum” serves as an entertainment district with a hip collection of trendy shops, graffiti art, breweries, and cool restaurants. What used to be sleepy warehouses is now a totally revitalized neighborhood. It became popular in 2009 and has gained steam ever since. Now, it is also experiencing a technological boom.

Edgewater, as the name suggests, stands at the edge of Biscayne Bay. This peaceful residential area has seen a lot of recent real estate development. It continues to be on the rise with new modern apartment buildings – and represents one of Miami’s best-kept secrets.

If you’re looking for a relaxing, contemporary, sunny, and airy apartment with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Bay and Miami Beach, you can’t go wrong with Edgewater.

Nextdoor, Midtown Miami consists of only 6 blocks of high-rise apartments. People work, live, and play in this trendy and refined locale that places everything you need within walking distance.

Home to luxury residential buildings, the beautiful new M Park, and a big outdoor mall called “The Shops at Midtown,” it resembles the SOHO neighborhood in New York City with its various stores and eclectic eateries. Midtown has undergone a few recent developments, and new restaurants and state-of-the-art condos keep rising, which attracts more discerning residents.

Vibe

In Wynwood, art and graffiti pop out almost everywhere you look. Get ready for a surprise at every corner! Between stopping by the unique shops and getting lost on random artsy streets, it’s easy to spend the whole day here. Residents like to hang out in Wynwood for its chill vibe, inexpensive bites, art, and hipster crowds. It’s reminiscent of the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco.

And in 2012, the Wynwood Technology District started attracting tech companies and the brightest entrepreneurs. You can meet them at The Lab Miami, a co-working space for many startup founders; BrainStation, a coding bootcamp; and other innovative companies throughout Wynwood.

In Edgewater, locals love to spend time at the bayside Margaret Pace Park, which offers trails, benches, and sports courts. This perfectly quiet neighborhood also allows for easy access to many fun options for a night out in the nearby Wynwood, Midtown, Design District, and Brickell.

Midtown itself forms a new mini-neighborhood alongside Wynwood and Edgewater, perfect for someone looking for buildings with amenities, abundant sunlight, sensational high-rise views, and a modern lifestyle. Its offices and co-working spaces bring in professional crowds during the day. And you’ll find plenty of stores to browse, including West Elm, Target, HomeGoods, Nordstrom Rack, Guess, and more.

Many locals gather in the evening at restaurants with charming outdoor seating and friendly service. Dining options vary from casual to chic, and this variety makes Midtown a good place to catch up with friends, meet colleagues for lunch, or simply walk around and window-shop.

Fave spots

Stop by The Salty Donut, where they serve mind-blowing, inventive donuts that sell out fast. Wynwood locals often head to 1-800-Lucky, a casual Asian food hall with 7 restaurants, karaoke, and live DJs. It’s a happening place on the weekends. You will also find Miami locals having a blast at the many casual bars, such as Wood Tavern and Shots. Don’t miss Amara at Paraiso in Edgewater – an upscale Latin gem with sweeping views of Biscayne Bay.

Walt Grace Vintage is a unique gallery in Wynwood that specializes in vintage guitars and cars.

If you’re in the area, a quick walk from Midtown shops gets you to Lagniappe House, where they offer daily live music, wines, and charcuterie boards in a casual ambiance. Locals love Sugarcane, a popular, high-end raw bar grill with beautiful outdoor seating. Check out the sweeping views at Astra, the new Mediterranean rooftop restaurant, bar, and lounge with DJs and live bands. Hales Black Brick is a go-to spot for contemporary Chinese food, warm service, and al-fresco dining. Don’t miss Pummarola for authentic Italian cuisine and down-to-earth vibes.

Locals also love hanging out at the new M park, located in the heart of Midtown. It offers an open grassy area with tables and benches for relaxing as well as a big playground.

Things to Know

This eminently walkable area also provides good public transportation, and many locals love to bike.

Wynwood is mostly the place to see art, browse shops, grab a bite, and enjoy nightlife, while Edgewater is mostly residential.

Wynwood itself gets very busy, and the surrounding streets can get tricky sometimes.

Midtown, on the other hand, sets the standard for those with an electric vehicle, thanks to the 2 electric vehicle charging locations with 4 level-2 charging points. However, the area does boast a high walking score as well, and you don’t even need a car.

Because this mini-neighborhood is very small and dense, it can get a little loud, especially on the weekends. But in general, the crowds tend to be well-mannered here.
