Welcome to Music Row Edgehill

Located just south of downtown, the famous Music Row is where musicians who are trying to make it big in Nashville might choose to live. Music Row is known for its beautiful old brick buildings that now host a variety of condominiums and businesses.

What streets are Music Row on exactly? The row is actually composed of two streets: 16th Avenue South and 17th Avenue South.

A particularly appealing aspect of living near Music Row is its proximity to Downtown, Centennial Park, and Hillsboro Village (a trendy area with shops and restaurants). Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, and the historic Belcourt Theater— which at one time housed the Grand Ole Opry— are all within walking distance.

While Nashville continues to grow, so does Music Row and the surrounding area. There is a huge push to preserve the history and character of this area. This explosive growth has transformed neighborhoods near Music Row, like the Gulch and Midtown, the latter of which has seen a 176 percent jump in property values since 2010, according to the Tennessean. As the row is really just businesses with a few homes sprinkled in between, there are more housing opportunities in the Vanderbilt/Hillsboro Village area.

Neighborhood Life

Music Row Nashville is mainly gorgeous brick and wood homes, some of which are still residential, but most of which have been converted into businesses. The towering trees that line the streets bring shade and historic charm to a dense urban area. Crowds flock to experience the one-of-a-kind musical influence of this neighborhood. When you’re in Music Row, you can catch live music at every single corner!

Local Hangouts

This area and the surrounding area are a great place for foodies and outdoor aficionados. There are bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks aplenty.

Start the morning off right with a stop at Pancake Pantry, a family-owned restaurant that originally opened in 1961 and serves up Nashville’s favorite hotcakes. The Pie Wagon restaurant, a meat-and-three on Division, is one of Nashville's best lunch spots.

The Catbird Seat is a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience that requires reservations in advance and carries a price tag that might make your jaw drop. However, the U-shaped open-kitchen dining experience is well worth it. For something lighter on the wallet, Midtown Café is the favored way to support local businesses— 1% of all sales goes towards local community organizations and nonprofits.

Explore Music Row’s famous past at RCA Studio B, where musicians like Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins, and The Everly Brothers have all recorded. Catch the latest Indie film at the Belcourt Theater, a small nonprofit and local treasure. Then, get your shopping fix at UAL, United Apparel Liquidators, where you can find designer digs at a fraction of the cost.

Things to Know

Due to the proximity to Downtown and Hillsboro Village, Music Row is where many energetic residents choose to live. With this popularity, finding a home for sale can be tricky. However, if you’re looking to rent, this is the neighborhood for you. As far as getting around— the area is decently walkable, but Nashville is generally more accessible by car.

Fun fact: One of the most memorable events in Nashville, the Country Music Marathon, is held in this neighborhood each April!
